Child Aid International is a charitable organisation that respects and champions the rights of all orphan children – regardless of race, ethnicity or faith. Founded in 2004, Child Aid International seeks to help rebuild the lives of these orphan children. The organization has developed its Orphan Child Sponsorship Program through which it provides donors with the opportunity to help transform the life of an orphan child in Iraq. Sponsorship covers the healthcare, food, clothing and education cost for a child. Child Aid International helps over 2,000 children annually. Through the generous support of this dinner, Child Aid will be funding the operations of a newly established school in Basra, Iraq. Through a good education, Child Aid believes that the orphans will have a brighter future that will impact generations to come. After all, every child deserves to have his/her dream fulfilled. Az-Zahraa Islamic Academy (AZIA) is an independent school located in Richmond for children from preschool to Grade Seven. It strives to offer a superior education in an environment rich with morals and values. The mandate of the school encompasses greater responsibility than only quality curricular education. It includes the spiritual and moral intelligence of every child. Our aim is to meet our children’s academic, religious, emotional, social, cultural, and physical needs. We are a charitable organisation and rely to a large extent on fundraising to enhance the quality of education offered to the children. The funds raised from this dinner will result in the introduction of improved programs at the school. These programs will include technology advancement, upgrading of our current computers, and additional student resources. The money collected will also be used for the subsidy/bursary program that helps fund families that are unable to afford the full school fees.
